the spring

The Spring is a dynamic art piece based upon Шум/SHUM by the Ukrainian band Go_A, focusing on capturing movement in a still medium and defining accuracy in likeness and anatomy, all while maintaining an impressionist, brushwork-based style. Another piece inspired by what I imagine when I listen to the song, elements from the band’s Eurovision performance such as the halo, seed-sowing, sunrise and changing environment are incorporated in its structure, expanding my practice with symbolism and landscape illustration

The band’s singer, Kateryna Pavlenko, is the central subject of the painting and appears to change the environment around her due to the connection between the seeds she sows and the windswept forest. Her attire is accurate to the performance while also adapting the paint scheme of the environment, making the setting more otherworldly and impactful.

This concept art and visualisation style is an example of my potential for musical promotion and art direction; journeying to accurately capture the vision and meaning of an artist’s lyrics and image while implementing scenario elements I believe are possible.
