achievements in design and hospitality

Through my early years in art to the conclusion of my degree and pursuing greater opportunities, the skills learned, opportunities taken and experience gained in my work within commissions and hospitality has formed my socially driven and imaginative design identity.

 

I am loyal to a client as well as our ideas, and will consider a project or problem from every angle to better communication, trust and ideation between myself and who I create for.
How and why I do this, you ask? The story begins below, from my recent achievements...

ui wireframes, asset design and illustration - valearnis

2023 - present

Just before finishing my degree, I began to apply for internships across in person and remote venues to ensure I could begin work anywhere that I needed - within two days, I heard back from a company called Valearnis and its founder Samreid Manez. From the interview and preliminary design testing period, through to accomplishing weekly tasks in improving and expanding the look, personality and functionality of this learning website, my time with Valearnis has proved essential in refining the professional output of my skills.

 

  • Built experience in working remotely while maintaining consistent communication with a multinational group

  • Handling of different categories of design tasks from week to week - established varied schedule

  • Extensive use of Adobe Illustrator to create detailed, sleek landscapes, characters and decoration

  • Weekly meetings detailing our progress and where we can bring up new ideas for improving the site

  • First intensive experience with UI design through Figma - creation of wireframes for further articulation with programmers

  • Visual design assets used in official learning material and advertisements

  • Characters created were optimised and animated for video lessons and website flourishes

  • Successfully adapted to a vector-leaning artstyle for Valearnis material

2020 - 2022

Maintaining a drive for art since my teenage years and seeking to implement these skills into greater opportunities, my time studying has introduced me to new possibilities in design and art, with my further development of these skills resulting in a refined body of work. What I have accomplished and how I connected with my peers over this period is invaluable to my design work and future career.

 

  • Development of a freelance work schedule based upon project categories and encouragement of ideas

  • Creation of original typefaces, logos and layout themes for assessments and independent projects

  • Proficient skill in Adobe Creative cloud programs and use in exhibition-quality campaigns

  • Self-directed and photographed documentary project shown at student film viewings

  • Creation of freelance service using branding business/marketing skills and development

  • Combined personal artistic skills and visions of briefs with the client’s project ideas
    to take a distinctive, imaginative yet loyal approach to projects

  • Team-based experience on high-quality initiative concept creation

2017 - 2022

While a minor element of my approach to design, working in customer service introduced me to scheduled work, leadership roles, opportunities to expand my social empathy and skills, as well as resilience. Along my four-year experience in customer service, these achievements stand out in my work ethic today:

  • Commended for high quality of customer service and conversational skills

  • Helped create an optimised schedule for maintenance and stocking duties

  • Trusted with assistance in store management and open duties

  • Balanced customer interaction with store maintenance and stock preparation in varying hour shifts
